Spice Catering Co. is seeking a highly organized, people-focused Human Resources Manager to oversee all HR functions across our dynamic hospitality organization, including Spice Catering Co. and Boom’s Pizza. This role will lead efforts in compliance, talent recruitment and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and the systems that support a thriving workplace culture. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator and systems thinker who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about helping people and businesses grow together.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance + HR Operations

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Update and enforce company policies, employee handbook, and code of conduct
  • Manage workplace investigations, documentation, and resolution of employee relations issues
  • Oversee annual compliance training (e.g., harassment prevention, food safety, workplace safety)
  • Maintain accurate and secure employee records in accordance with legal requirements

Talent Recruitment, Retention + Development

  • Develop hiring strategies to attract qualified candidates for both back-of-house and front-of-house roles
  • Partner with department heads to identify current and future hiring needs
  • Create compelling job postings and manage listings across various recruiting platforms
  • Screen resumes, coordinate interviews, and support hiring managers in candidate selection
  • Oversee onboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition for new hires
  • Manage quarterly and annual performance review process and goal-setting initiatives
  • Create and manage professional development opportunities, including training programs and mentorship
  • Facilitate regular check-ins with staff to support career growth and job satisfaction
  • Analyze turnover trends and implement retention strategies based on insights
  • Ensure equitable access to growth opportunities across departments

Payroll + Compensation + Benefits

  • Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing and troubleshoot discrepancies
  • Maintain and update compensation structure, ensuring internal equity and market competitiveness
  • Administer employee benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans
  • Conduct annual open enrollment and educate employees on benefit offerings
  • Serve as a point of contact for benefits questions, leaves of absence, and workers' compensation

Employee Culture + Engagement

  • Lead internal culture initiatives, including team-building events and staff appreciation programs
  • Support consistent and value-aligned communication across departments
  • Serve as a trusted resource for staff concerns, mediation, and morale boosting
  • Ensure the Spice Core Values are integrated into daily operations

Culture Index Management

  • Administer and maintain the Culture Index platform and team profiles
  • Support leadership with interpretation of CI data for hiring and coaching
  • Train managers on how to integrate CI into team development and communication
  • Assist in aligning job roles with team members’ behavioral strengths
  • Help optimize team dynamics and role fit using CI insights

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in hospitality or a high-touch service industry
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, payroll systems, and benefits administration
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms, and scheduling tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
