Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly and dependable Sales Clerk to join our food retail team. The Sales Clerk will assist customers in selecting food products, ensure shelves are stocked and organized, maintain a clean and safe store environment, and process sales transactions accurately. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, food safety, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet customers warmly and assist with finding food products, answering questions about ingredients, dietary information, and product freshness
Provide recommendations based on customer preferences and needs
Operate cash registers, handle cash, credit, or check transactions accurately and efficiently
Stock, rotate, and organize food items, ensuring freshness and compliance with food safety standards
Monitor product expiration dates and remove expired or damaged goods promptly
Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor, refrigerated cases, and food preparation areas in compliance with health and safety regulations
Assist with receiving and unpacking shipments of perishable and non-perishable food items
Follow company policies on food safety, hygiene, and loss prevention
Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and concerns
Collaborate with team members to achieve store sales targets and provide an excellent shopping experience
Assist with inventory.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in food retail, grocery, or customer service preferred but not required
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene best practices is a plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
