Job Description As a Sr. Radiation Safety Specialist, you will be at the forefront of radiation safety practices, overseeing compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Your expertise will safeguard not only our patients but also our dedicated staff and the broader community. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact in a leading cancer center renowned for its cutting-edge research and patient-centered approach. As a successful candidate, you will: Radiation Safety Oversight: Conduct thorough inspections of laboratories using radioactive materials, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards. Dosimetry Management: Prepare and review monthly and quarterly dosimetry reports, maintaining meticulous records of radiation exposure. Instrumentation Calibration: Oversee the inspection and calibration of health physics instruments and personal dosimeters, ensuring accurate and reliable measurements. Emergency Response: Lead investigations into accidental overexposures and radiation incidents, implementing corrective actions and reporting findings. Sealed Source Program Management: Supervise the sealed source program, including leak testing and inventory management of radioactive material. Training & Consultation: Provide expert guidance and training to staff across departments, fostering a culture of safety and compliance. Policy Development: Assist in the creation and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies to enhance radiation safety practices. Waste Management: Oversee the processing and disposal of radioactive waste, ensuring environmental and regulatory compliance.
